SFWA presents: Painting the Figure and Floral Still Life with Master Painter, Dennis Perrin

Join this three-day, intensive workshop emphasizing the fundamentals of painting focusing on the beauty of flowers and the human figure.

Nationally-recognized, Master Painter, Dennis Perrin uses revolutionary teaching methods which provide students of all levels with the ability to take their painting to an entirely new level of expression.  With a strong emphasis on the essentials, Dennis will teach you to apply The Perrin Method™ to any subject.   A focus on value, design and simplification is combined with unusual teaching techniques including “team” painting.  The Perrin Method™  will free you from the burden of making paintings and allow you to soar artistically through the simplejoy of painting.

I have chosen to see beauty as revealed by light,” says Perrin. “Each painting that I undertake, regardless of subject, is an attempt to capture an image that is both defined and unified by light.

After almost four decades of painting professionally, Perrin says, "The most important lesson I have learned is that it has to be fun...or it’s not worth doing...Struggle and strife are not our lot in life unless we believe that to be true.  I start every painting with the absolute belief that this is going to be fun, and it always is!  This is the core of my teaching philosophy.  Painting, like all other pursuits, should be fun."

This workshop will be primarily centered on floral still life, but the painting of the figure will be included.

Students should have a solid grasp of oil painting and a portable, plein air easel, brushes, paints and essential materials.   The materials list will be sent to registered students.
